Tax Compliance Officer
Job Description

Job description

Are you challenged by details and accuracy? Would you like to play a central role in the tax compliance of a global offshore player?

Your role in the story:
As Tax Compliance Officer you will be involved in the tax (reporting) obligations of Heerema Marine Contractors’ international projects. Due to the nature of our business, we continuously move around the globe to execute projects. This results into a dynamic work environment, dealing with different people in the organisation, varied work that requires a high level of responsibility and different approaches. You will gain knowledge and experience in the country specific tax (compliance) aspects of a project. You use your (tax) skills, business insights and financial knowledge to translate Heerema Marine Contractors operating information into tax compliance with indirect taxes, such as VAT/GST or alike, non-resident withholding taxes, and other reportings.

What you will be working on:

  • Coordinate/prepare tax returns and align with Finance, Legal, Treasury, Procurement and Project Management;
  • Inform and assist Project Management regarding relevant documentation on tax requirements and exposures;
  • Implement and instruct tax guidelines, tax compliance procedures, build in tax checks, balances and active monitoring;
  • Support tax audits and reviews by tax authorities in a variety of countries;
  • Act as first point of contact for subcontractors in relation to tax guidelines and documentation requested by Heerema Marine Contractors in respect to their tax compliance status.

Who will you work with

The Taxation departments consist of ten people with a variety of characters and a hands-on attitude. You will be working in the Tax Compliance team in a group of four. You will work closely with Finance, Legal, Procurement and Project Management. Most of the colleagues you are dealing with work in the same Leiden office, so there is much potential to unlock your communication skills.

 Key ingredients for success:

  • You have a minimum of Bachelor degree preferably in Fiscal economy or Accounting;
  • You have experience in (international) tax compliance; including managing tax reporting requirements, filing tax returns, implementing and instructing tax guidelines, reviewing tax processes and procedures;
  • You have good communication skills in English and Dutch, both spoken and written
  • You have the willingness and flexibility to travel occasionally.

At our core, we champion an entrepreneurial spirit and a relentless pursuit of growth. We seek individuals who excel in personal development, seize opportunities where others see challenges, and turn them into success.
