Your role in the story
At Heerema, Engineering drives our offshore operations. Each installation challenges the boundaries of physics and calls for flawless execution. The Marine Engineering department is essential in this effort, mastering hydrostatics and hydrodynamics to make operations possible in the most demanding conditions. While most of our team of about 25 marine engineers focus on projects and tenders, your role will be different. As a Senior Marine Engineer & Python Developer, you combine hands-on marine engineering expertise with smart digital solutions. You’ll occasionally perform hydrodynamic analyses, but your real impact comes from developing scalable Python frameworks and efficient workflows that accelerate digitalization. You create tools that genuinely help engineers work smarter, think ahead, and continuously improve. In doing so, you directly shape both our projects and the future of engineering at Heerema.

What you will be working on

• Performing hydrodynamic analyses and workability assessments
• Designing scalable modular Python frameworks for Marine Engineering
• Developing example workflows for engineering tasks
• Turning vessel and project data into actionable insights
• Sharing knowledge and supporting engineers and citizen developers 

Key ingredients for success

• Master’s degree in Maritime, Offshore, Mechanical, or a similar engineering discipline
• Minimum 5 years of experience in marine engineering
• Strong Python skills, and experience writing clean, modular, reusable code
• Familiarity with data platforms and frameworks. Ability to learn new tools quickly.
• Collaborative mindset and a drive to deliver tools that make a real impact
