Technical Superintendent E&I
Job Description

Job description

Are you passionate about technology and the maritime world? Do you enjoy variety, working with different people and taking ownership when a technical challenge needs to be solved? Then this could be the role for you.

Your role in the story

As Technical Superintendent Electrical & Instrumentation, you are responsible for the E&I systems across our fleet of 2 tugs and 10 barges. With different vessels, technical challenges, maintenance activities and projects, variety is guaranteed.

From shore, you work closely with our vessel crews, Equipment Managers, technical specialists, yards and suppliers to keep our assets safe, reliable and ready for operation. You identify what needs attention, coordinate maintenance and upgrades and make sure plans actually turn into action.

This is a role for someone who likes to take ownership and get things moving. Sometimes that means pushing for progress, sometimes bringing the right people together, but above all, you are someone who can sink their teeth into a technical challenge and follow through until there is a solution.

Leiden will be your home base, with the possibility to work from our Vlissingen office as well, combined with regular visits to our vessels, yards and suppliers.

What you will be working on

  • Coordinate E&I maintenance, repairs and technical upgrades across our fleet of 2 tugs and 10 barges;
  • Identify technical risks and turn them into practical solutions, improvements and investment projects;
  • Work closely with vessel crews, Equipment Managers and technical specialists to keep our assets safe, reliable and operational;
  • Support engineering, commissioning and testing and coordinate activities with suppliers, subcontractors and yards;
  • Take ownership of technical challenges from start to finish, while keeping an eye on safety, quality, certification, planning and costs.

Key ingredients for success

For us, this role is about more than technical knowledge alone. We are looking for someone with a genuine interest in technology and the maritime sector, who enjoys variety and gets energy from working together with different people.

You have drive, ownership and perseverance. You know when to push, when to pull people together and you don't easily let go when something needs to be solved. You are hands-on, curious and comfortable taking responsibility for getting things done.

Furthermore, you have:

  • A Vocational or Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent;
  • At least 2 years of experience within Electrical Engineering;
  • Experience with maritime E&I installations
  • Good communication skills in English and the ability to work effectively with colleagues, crews, suppliers and other stakeholders;
  • A proactive, result-oriented mindset and the flexibility to travel to our vessels, yards and suppliers when required.

Your future colleagues

As Technical Superintendent E&I, you are part of our Equipment Department and work closely with the Equipment Manager Tugs & Barges and a team of Technical Superintendents and other technical specialists.

It is a collaborative environment where expertise is shared and where you have the freedom and responsibility to drive your own topics forward. With 12 different units in scope, you will work on a broad variety of technical challenges and have plenty of opportunities to further develop your E&I and maritime expertise
