Sr. Visual Designer

Transform complex engineering challenges into compelling visual stories and bring some of the world's most ambitious offshore projects to life.

Your role in the story

As a Sr. Visual Designer within Heerema Marine Contractors, you turn technical and often complex engineering ideas into clear, engaging visual stories. You work closely with engineers, project designers and other specialists to visualize challenging offshore installation and removal projects.

Using 3D models, animation and post-production, you create content that supports project preparation, concept development, simulations and communication with colleagues and clients. You combine creativity with technical understanding and a structured way of working. 

Development opportunities
This role gives you the opportunity to work across a wide range of offshore projects involving fixed and floating platforms, pipelines and subsea infrastructure. You will deepen your knowledge of 3D modelling, animation, real-time visualization and technically accurate storytelling.

As you grow in the role, you can take on more complex visualizations, contribute earlier in concept design and help further develop the team's animation capabilities, tools and working methods.

What you will be working on:
3D visualization and animation

• Model and apply materials in Blender and create high-quality animations using Blender and Adobe After Effects.
• Create 3D content for simulations of installation procedures involving Heerema’s vessels.
• Edit and finalize visual content using Adobe Creative Cloud, including After Effects, Photoshop and Premiere Pro.
• Work with Unreal Engine where real-time visualization supports the project or concept.

Technical and project collaboration

• Work closely with project designers and engineers to translate technical ideas into clear visualizations.
• Read and interpret technical drawings, ask the right questions and actively contribute to technically workable visual solutions.
• Retrieve and use engineering models from ProjectWise and prepare them for visualization and animation.

• Create visualizations in line with the Drawing Control Procedure and departmental standards.
• Support and help solve technical challenges during concept design.
• Plan and prepare your work efficiently while maintaining a strong focus on quality and deadlines.

Your future colleagues: 
You will join a multidisciplinary visual design and animation team that supports engineers, tenders and projects. The team combines complementary expertise in animation, 3D modelling, technical visualization, postproduction and scripting support. The team consist of: Arthur Kwadijk, Robbert Aarts, Wesley Schouten, Erwin Kneppers, Maria Demkovych, Sylvester Rollock, Tim Davies and Joshua Bastiaans. The team is looking to further strengthen its animation expertise, so you will have a visible role in expanding and developing this capability.
