Your role in the story
As a vital member of our Subsea Services group, you are the technical link between Heerema's vessels, project teams, and external subcontractors. Your pragmatic mindset and can-do attitude allow you to deliver innovative, fit-for-purpose solutions in a dynamic project environment.
You take ownership of complex subsea engineering scopes, manage technical interfaces with subcontractors and act as a technical single point of contact for assigned subcontractors. Through your expertise, you play a key role in project execution, tender support and the continuous development of Heerema's subsea capabilities.
Development opportunities
As a ROV & Tooling Specialist Engineer, you'll have the unique opportunity to work on diverse projects across Decommissioning, Transport & Installation and Offshore Wind projects while taking ownership of increasingly complex scopes.
You will independently manage technical work packages, serve as technical SPOC for designated subcontractors and help shape innovative subsea solutions for some of the industry's most challenging projects. This role provides opportunities to further strengthen your technical leadership, expand your subsea expertise and influence strategic technology decisions within Heerema.
What you will be working on:
Technical subcontractor management
- Manage the technical interface between subcontractors and Heerema's vessels and project teams.
- Technically assess and evaluate subcontractor proposals for subsea services.
- Act as the internal technical single point of contact (SPOC) for assigned subcontractors.
Tender and project preparation
- Lead engineering activities related to ROV, subsea cutting and dredging operations.
- Define fit-for-purpose tooling solutions for complex subsea challenges.
- Identify project requirements and determine required subcontractor equipment and personnel.
- Prepare scopes of work and review subcontractor procedures.
- Define testing and qualification requirements.
- Provide technical support during equipment testing, mobilization and offshore execution of subsea operations (~10% of the year).
- Monitor market developments and evaluate emerging technologies and solutions.
Key ingredients for success
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Civil Engineering, Ocean Technology, Aeronautical & Aerospace Engineering or equivalent.
- Minimum of 10 years relevant experience in offshore and subsea operations.
- Demonstrated experience managing subcontractors and technical interfaces.
- Ability to independently drive engineering scopes and technical decision-making.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
