Great offshore projects start with great people.
As an HR Officer in our new Porto office, you play a key role in supporting and enabling the teams behind some of the most complex offshore projects in the world.
Your role in the story
We are looking for an organised and proactive HR Officer who gets energy from building something. At Heerema Marine Contractors, our people are at the centre of everything we do, and strong local HR support is essential to build a solid foundation.
In this role, you are one of the first HR representatives in Portugal. You support the Porto office in day-to-day HR and organisational matters, while helping to set up and structure local HR processes from the ground up. You combine HR administration with office coordination and act as the key point of contact for employees, managers and external providers.
You work closely with international HR colleagues and external partners, ensuring that local operations run smoothly and in line with policies and regulations.
What you will be working on
- Acting as the first point of contact for employees and managers in Portugal on HR-related topics
- Supporting and executing core HR processes (onboarding, contracts, mutations, offboarding)
- Preparing and maintaining accurate HR administration and documentation
- Coordinating and managing contact with external payroll and HR service providers
- Supporting compliance with local labour legislation and internal policies
- Assisting in setting up and improving HR processes, policies and ways of working for the Porto office
- Supporting managers with HR-related questions and practical issues
- Contributing to a smooth onboarding experience for new employees
- Coordinating office-related activities (facilities, suppliers, day-to-day operations)
- Ensuring a structured and well-organised working environment in a growing office.
Key ingredients for success
- 3–5 years of experience in an HR support / HR Officer / HR administration or office management role
- Excellent communication skills in both Portuguese and English.
- Solid understanding of Portuguese labour legislation (or willingness to develop this quickly)
- Experience working with payroll processes and external service providers
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
- A hands-on, service-oriented and proactive mindset
- Ability to work independently and take ownership in a start-up environment
- Strong communication skills and ability to act as a trusted point of contact
- Comfortable working in an international organisation
Your future colleagues
You will work closely with HR and recruitment colleagues across the organisation and support local managers and employees in Porto. You are a key link between the Porto office and the wider Heerema HR organisation.
Your foundation for success
At Heerema, we combine professionalism with personality. We believe great results come from people who take ownership, support each other and enjoy their work.
In Porto, you will play a key role in building the local organisation from the ground up.
You will have a broad and varied role with real impact, combining HR support, coordination and office management, while being supported by an experienced international HR organisation.
