Your role in the story:
At Heerema Marine Contractors (HMC), our offshore projects push the boundaries of engineering and execution across the globe. To make this possible, we rely on a diverse and robust portfolio of applications that support design, operations, collaboration, and project delivery.
As an IT Engineer (Medior) Applications Administrator, you take ownership of a defined set of business‑critical applications. You ensure these systems are stable, secure, up to date, and well supported throughout their lifecycle. This is a hands‑on, functional role for someone who enjoys combining technical understanding with user collaboration and structured application management.
You work closely with engineering teams, project teams, vendors, and internal IT colleagues to ensure our applications perform reliably whether they are used in Leiden, Houston, Singapore, or offshore.
What you will be working on:
- Owning and managing a defined portfolio of applications, including lifecycle activities such as upgrades, patches, testing, and version planning
- Coordinating with vendors, internal IT teams, and business stakeholders to ensure continuity and reliability of applications
- Providing functional support for assigned applications and analysing incidents to identify root causes and structural improvements
- Maintaining knowledge articles, user documentation, and configuration records
- Supporting change and release management, including testing, validation, and communication
- Ensuring changes follow ITSM processes (Incidents, Changes, Problems)
- Maintaining accurate documentation, baselines, and audit‑ready records
- Overseeing license usage and vendor coordination
- Contributing to standardisation, professionalisation, and continuous improvement within the Applications team
- Supporting automation or scripting initiatives to improve efficiency where possible
Key ingredients for success:
- HBO or equivalent level of education in IT, Engineering, or a related field
- Experience supporting applications in an IT environment
- Understanding of ITSM processes such as Incident, Change, and Problem Management
- Experience with license management and vendor coordination
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
- Ability to translate functional business needs into clear technical requirements
- Structured way of working with strong documentation skills
- Good communication skills in English and Dutch
- Affinity with automation or scripting is a plus
- Experience in offshore, construction, or engineering environments is advantageous
